Ahead of the 4th Qingdao Craftsmen Day, the winners of the 2026 "Qingdao Craftsman", "Qingdao Handicraft Craftsman" and the All-staff Innovation Competition of the "Zhenchao Cup" have been officially announced. The Welding Technology Center of our company has been honored as an Innovative Team of the "Zhenchao Cup", while the project led by Chen Hairui from the Equipment Department has been recognized as an Excellent "Five Small" Innovation Achievement of the "Zhenchao Cup". 

The accolades for both the team and the individual demonstrate the tangible achievements the company has made in cultivating high-skilled talent, advancing technical research and pursuing innovation. 

Welding Technology Center: Focused on Process Breakthroughs and Cost Control

The Welding Technology Center serves as the core team for the company’s special material welding technologies. Since 2022, the team has overcome bottlenecks in welding processes for special materials including super austenitic stainless steel and titanium alloy, resolving a host of key technical obstacles restricting expansion into high-end markets. 

To cut costs and boost efficiency, the team has introduced robotic automatic welding, laser welding and other equipment, and carried out more than 50 technical renovations including the double-torch welding method. Notably, the technical improvement for gas-shielded stud welding with pins has slashed consumable costs by 55%, with the overall rework rate maintained below 0.05%. 

Meanwhile, the center undertakes internal training for welding personnel. It has trained over 1,000 employees and cultivated numerous high-skilled talents such as "Qingdao Craftsmen" and "SCO Craftsmen", building a stable talent pool of senior technicians. At the recent launching ceremony of Jiaozhou Industrial Workers’ Ideology & Politics Lecture and Jiaozhou Model Workers & Craftsmen Technical Service Team, Zhao Shujun from the Welding Technology Center, as a representative of "SCO Craftsmen", vividly illustrated the contemporary spirit of labour and craftsmanship through his personal experience.

Chen Hairui: Solving Practical Problems On-site

Chen Hairui of the Equipment Department and Zhao Shaoguang from the Health, Safety & Environment Department tackled the persistent on-site problem of frequent wear and high failure rates of anti-drop latches on crane hooks. They independently designed and manufactured a plate-type anti-drop device to replace the original spring-based structure. 

Fabricated as an integrated piece from high-strength steel plates, the new device eliminates springs prone to fatigue fracture. It achieves automatic locking relying on self-weight and mechanical limiting. Following the modification, equipment failure rates have dropped by 90% and annual maintenance costs reduced by 80%. The risk of hook detachment has been largely eliminated, safeguarding the safety of personnel and equipment.
